Muncie, IN (Sports Network) - Jauwan Scaife posted a career-high 30 points, leading the Ball State Cardinals over the Western Michigan Broncos, 65-62, for the upset win in a Mid-American Conference clash at the Worthen Arena.

Scaife was 9-of-16 from the floor, 3-of-6 from 3-point range, and 9-of-10 from the free-throw line for Ball State (9-13, 3-7 MAC), which broke a three-game losing streak. Marcus Posley added 15 points and three steals while Matt Kamieniecki managed 10 points.

The Cardinals shot 50.0 percent from the floor in the first half while holding the Broncos to 31.8 percent shooting in order to carry a 28-24 lead into the break

Both teams shot over 50 percent from the field in the second half and Western Michigan outscored Ball State, 38-37, but was unable to finish off the second half comeback. After getting back within one point with eight seconds left thanks to a Austin Richie 3-pointer, the Broncos watch Scaife hit two clutch free-throws to give the Cardinals a 3-point cushion. Brown's potential tying 3-point attempt in the final seconds was blocked by Kamieniecki which secured the upset victory for Ball State.
