Recap: Kent State vs. Bowling Green
Kent, OH (Sports Network) - Randal Holt finished with 16 points as the Kent State Golden Flashes handed a 69-61 defeat to the Bowling Green Falcons, in a a Mid-American Conference matchup at the M.A.C. Center.
For the Golden Flashes (18-12, 8-7 MAC), winners of six of their last seven games, Chris Evans posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Darren Goodson added 12 points and Kris Brewer finished with 11 points.
A'uston Calhoun led the Falcons (12-18, 6-9) with 13 points, Jordan Crawford contributed 12 points and eight assists and Richaun Holmes chipped in with 11 points.
Kent State went into halftime leading 35-29. The Golden Flashes shot 44.8 percent from the field, connecting on 4-of-8 from beyond the 3-point arc. Bowling Green made 41.4 percent of its shots from the field but missed all six 3-point tries before intermission.
After the break, the Golden Flashes continued to have success from the perimeter, hitting on 5-of-12 from 3-point range in the second half, though they shot just 40.7 percent from the field overall. The Falcons made 43.8 percent of their field goal attempts in the half, but again were shut out from long distance, shooting 0-of-3 from beyond the arc. Bowling Green used an 8-2 run to take a one-point lead, 58-57, with 7:29 remaining. Kent State responded by scoring the next seven points and held on for the victory.
The Falcons dominated in the paint, outscoring the Golden Flashes 50-20 down low. Kent State owned the perimeter, finishing with a 27-0 scoring edge from 3-point range.Game Notes
