Recap: Kent State vs. Central Mich

Kent, OH (Sports Network) - Chris Evans scored 19 points to lead all five starters in double figures for the Kent State Golden Flashes who dispatched the Central Michigan Chippewas, 87-72, in Mid-American Conference action at the MAC Center.

Evans also had eight rebounds, Darren Goodson added 18 points, Kris Brewer tallied 16 points and seven assists, Randal Holt contributed 15 points and Mark Henniger chipped in 10 points for Kent State (13-11, 4-6 MAC) which had lost five of its previous six games.

Kyle Randall poured in a game-high 20 points and Austin Keel tacked on 10 off the bench for Central Michigan (9-14, 2-9) which has lost six straight.

Both teams shot well in the first half. Kent State hit 56.7 percent of its field goal tries, including 9-of-15 from beyond the arc, and led 44-40 at the break. Central Michigan shot 48.6 percent from the field in the opening period.

In the second frame Kent State kept up its hot shooting by knocking down 54.5 percent from the field while limiting the Chippewas to eight field goals on 38.1 percent shooting.

The Golden Flashes rattled in 11-of-22 shots from beyond the arc and outscored Central Michigan, 28-22, in the paint.
