Recap: Eastern Mich vs. IUPU-Ft Wayne

Ypsilanti, MI (Sports Network) - Derek Thompson shot 7-of-12 from the field for 17 points as the Eastern Michigan Eagles took down the IUPU-Fort Wayne Mastodons, 60-47, as part of the EMU "Ice Man" Classic at Convocation Center.

Glenn Bryant added 11 points for EMU (3-1), while Daylen Harrison tallied eight points and eight rebounds.

For IPFW (2-2), Frank Gaines scored 17 points, but he did so on just 4-of-12 from the field. Luis Jacobo netted 10 and Mario Hines ripped down nine rebounds.

IPFW led by as many as eight in the first half, but with the help of a 19-4 run towards the end of the frame, EMU took a 32-27 advantage into intermission.

The Mastodons brought the game to one possession on a few occasions in the second half but they never again tied the game or took the lead.

IPFW shot just 15-of-50 from the field in the game (.300), including 6-of-25 from three-point range. EMU wasn't much better from the field at 39.6 percent, but it helped itself with a 19-of-27 night from the foul line.
