Recap: Kent State vs. Miami-Ohio

Kent, OH (Sports Network) - Chris Evans hung up a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds as the Kent State Golden Flashes downed the Miami-Ohio RedHawks, 87-70, in a Mid-American Conference bout at the MAC Center.

Kris Brewer and Randal Holt each added 13 points, Mark Henniger chipped in 11 and Bryson Pope tacked on 10 for Kent State (14-11, 5-6 MAC) which has won three of its last four games.

Allen Roberts paced Miami-Ohio (8-15, 3-8) with 16 points off the bench, Geovonie McKnight added 12 and Will Felder contributed 10. The RedHawks have lost four straight and eight of their last nine.

Kent State came out on fire and led 48-32 at halftime after shooting 65.5 percent from the field in the first half, including an 8-of-13 showing from 3-point range. Miami-Ohio shot 46.4 percent in the first 20 minutes but made good on just 2-of-9 from beyond the arc.

After halftime the Golden Flashes shot an even 50 percent from the field to coast to the 17-point victory. The RedHawks connected on 48 percent of their shots from the field in the second half.

In the win Kent State had a 22-5 edge in points off turnovers and a 16-6 advantage in fast break points.
