Recap: Ohio vs. Oakland

Athens, OH (Sports Network) - Walter Offutt scored 14 points to lead the Ohio University Bobcats to a 78-61 victory over the Oakland Golden Grizzlies in a non-conference tilt at the Convocation Center.

For the Bobcats (7-2), Nick Kellogg added 12 points and D.J. Cooper posted a double-double with 10 points and 13 assists. Off the bench, Reggie Keely accounted for 10 points and eight rebounds as well.

Travis Bader led all scorers with 29 points for the Grizzlies (3-7), while Raphael Carter chipped in with 10 points in a reserve role.

Ohio shot 46.9 percent from the field in the first half and used a 7-0 run at the end of the frame to take a 39-29 lead into the locker room. Oakland led by six early in the first but made just 38.5 percent of its field goals in the opening period.

The Bobcats got hot in the second half, connecting on 55.2 percent of their field goals, though they managed just 4-of-15 from beyond the three-point arc. The Golden Grizzlies shot 42.3 percent from the field after the break and were able to knot the game at 53-53 midway through the half, but the Bobcats responded with a 21-2 to put the game away.

Ohio made the most of Oakland miscues, converting 20 turnovers by the visitors into 28 points. The Bobcats also dominated on points in the paint, 40-20.
