Recap: MD-Eastern Shore vs. Western Mich

Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Brandon Pokley scored a game-high 14 points, leading four starters in double figures, as the Western Michigan Broncos took down the Hawks of MD-Eastern Shore in a 68-51 final as part of the South Florida Invitational at the USF Sun Dome.

Shayne Whittington and Darius Paul both added 13 points and combined for 15 rebounds as well as six assists for the Broncos (3-1) in the triumph. Nate Hutcheson tacked on 10 points as well.

The Hawks (0-5) were paced by Troy Snyder who dropped 12 points as he shot just 2-of-7 behind the three-point line and 4-of-11 from the floor overall. Ronald Spencer and Kyree Jones chipped in 11 points apiece.

WMU opened with an 8-2 run in the first half and even though UMES took a brief three-point advantage later in the frame, it was still the Broncos on top at the break, 30-23, as they shot 52.0 percent from the floor.

In the second half the Broncos gained more separation by hitting on 53.6 percent from the field, en route to the 17-point victory.

The Hawks had a rough time shooting the ball as they converted just 35.2 percent of their field goal chances, including 4-of-17 behind the three-point line.
