Recap: NC Central vs. Southern U

Laramie, WY (Sports Network) - Ray Willis scored 20 points as he led the NC Central Eagles to a 59-55 win over the Southern University Jaguars in the second round of the Global Sports Hoops Classic at Arena-Auditorium.

Willis was 12-of-12 from the free throw line and grabbed nine rebounds in the Eagles (2-2) win. Stanton Kidd recorded a double-double, scoring 13 points while pulling down 13 rebounds. They were the only players to score in double figures for NC Central.

Off the bench, Malcolm Miller led the Jaguars (1-3) in scoring with 17 points. Miller also recorded three blocks. Javan Mitchell added 14 points and Derick Beltran contributed 10 more.

NC Central outscored Southern 33-28 in the first half as it dominated inside with a 16-4 advantage on points in the paint.

The Jaguars took the second half 27-26, but it wasn't enough to overcome the first half deficit.

The Eagles shot 32.1 percent from the field but got 25 points on 31 attempts from the free throw line.
