Recap: Austin Peay vs. Murray State

Clarksville, TN (Sports Network) - Isaiah Canaan scored 26 points as the Murray State Racers took care of the Austin Peay Governors with a 71-68 Ohio Valley Conference win at the Dunn Center.

Canaan shot 8-of-16 from the floor and made four 3-pointers as Murray State (12-4, 3-1 OVC) bounced back from a disappointing home loss against Eastern Kentucky earlier in the week. Canaan has now scored 20 or more points 11 times this season. Ed Daniel registered his 10th double-double of the season with 21 points and 13 boards.

Travis Betran scored 27 points in the losing effort for Austin Peay (5-13, 1-3). Will Triggs added 12 points, while Anthony Campbell went for 10 points and five boards.

Murray State led 31-29 after a tight first half in which the Racers shot 41.4 percent from the floor while limiting the Governors to 37.9 percent shooting.

Austin Peay took its first lead of the second half on a Betran layup at the 12:04 mark. After trading baskets for most of the half, Daniel broke a 55-55 tie with under five minutes to play in the game with six consecutive points. MSU was able to hold off a late Governors' push to hang on for the win.

Murray State outscored Austin Peay in the paint (32-24) and in fast break points (14-4). The Racers also outrebounded the Governors, 40-31.
