Recap: Eastern Ill vs. Belmont

Charleston, IL (Sports Network) - J.J. Mann and Trevor Noack scored 21 points apiece as the Belmont Bruins dismissed the Eastern Illinois Panthers, 80-49, in Ohio Valley Conference action at Lantz Arena.

Blake Jenkins netted 13 points for Belmont (21-6, 12-2 OVC), which has won at least 12 conference games for the 11th straight season. Kerron Johnson had just one point on 0-of-4 from the field but handed out eight assists and swiped three steals.

For EIU (8-20, 5-10), Sherman Blanford scored 14 points, Alex Austin had 10 points and Malcolm Herron grabbed 10 rebounds. The Panthers have lost three of their last four.

Belmont shot a lofty 60 percent from the field in the first half while forcing 11 EIU turnovers to take a commanding 42-20 lead at the break.

The Bruins' field goal efficiency slowed to 46.7 percent in the second half but their lead was never in doubt.

EIU shot just 31.9 percent from the field on the night, including on 1-of-12 from 3-point range.
