Recap: Belmont vs. SIU Edwardsville

Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Blake Jenkins recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds as the Belmont Bruins defeated the SIU Edwardsville Cougars, 73-43, in an Ohio Valley Conference tilt at the Curb Event Center.

Ian Clarke added 14 points and Trevor Noack chipped in 13 points along with five rebounds for Bruins (23-6, 13-2 OVC). JJ Mann put up 11 points and six boards as Belmont won its third consecutive games.

For the Cougars (9-17, 5-10), Kris Davis scored a game-high 19 points. Tim Johnson added 13 points as SIU Edwardsville fell to a four-game losing streak.

Belmont started out the game on a 7-0 run and never looked back, shooting 16- of-28 from the floor, en route to a 39-28 advantage at the break.

In the second half, SIU Edwardsville was held to a mere 4-of-22 from the floor. Belmont made 11-of-25 field goal attempts as it coasted to the 30-point victory.

Belmont controlled rebounding battle, 39-24, and dominated points in the paint, 30-8.

With the win, the Bruins clinched the OVC regular season championship.
