Recap: Morehead State vs. Eastern Ill

Morehead, KY (Sports Network) - A trio of Morehead State players tallied 11 points apiece to lead the Eagles to a 65-50 win over the Eastern Illinois Panthers in Ohio Valley Conference play at Ellis Johnson Arena.

Angelo Warner, Maurice Lewis-Briggs, Drew Kelly all scored 11 points in a balanced effort to lead the Eagles (8-8, 2-0 OVC), who have won three straight contests. Devon Atkinson added six points and six assists, while Chad Posthumus scored nine points and blocked four shots.

Sherman Blanford went for 14 points to pace Eastern Illinois (3-13, 0-3). Josh Piper netted 13 points and Taylor Jones scored 11 on 3-of-4 from 3-point range.

Although Morehead State shot less than 40 percent from the field in the first half, it held the Panthers to just 6-of-19 shooting (.316) and led 26-17 at intermission.

The scoring picked up in the second half, as Morehead State erupted for 39 points on 56.5 percent from the floor to pull away.

The Eagles' reserves outscored the EIU bench, 20-2. The Panthers have now lost nine in a row.
