Recap: Jacksonville St vs. Eastern Ky

Jacksonville, AL (Sports Network) - Corey Walden led all scorers with 28 points, and the Eastern Kentucky Colonels claimed a 73-62 win over the Jacksonville State Gamecocks in Ohio Valley Conference play at Pete Mathews Coliseum.

Mike DiNunno added 24 points to help the Colonels (15-4, 5-1 OVC) rebound from their first conference loss two nights ago. Walden and DiNunno combined to shoot 4-of-7 from beyond the arc and a perfect 16-of-16 at the foul line.

Tarvin Gaines led the Gamecocks (12-7, 4-4) with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Brian Williams chipped in with 14 points, Ronnie Boggs tallied 11 points and nine boards, and Rico Sanders scored 10 off the bench.

EKU knocked down 5-of-13 threes in the first half to grab a 36-22 halftime lead. Defensively, the Colonels held JSU to 8-of-24 shooting from the floor (.333) in the opening frame.

The Gamecocks were never able to find an offensive rhythm in the second stanza, as they shot just 29.4 percent from the floor. Both teams made 10 field goals after halftime, although the Colonels did so on 58.8-percent efficiency while also going 16-of-19 at the charity stripe.
