Recap: Tenn Tech vs. Eastern Ky

Cookeville, TN (Sports Network) - Corey Walden led the way with 18 points, as the Eastern Kentucky Colonels took down the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles, 69-54, in an Ohio Valley Conference showdown at the Eblen Center.

For the Colonels (23-7, 12-3 OVC), Glen Cosey added 14 points and Marcus Lewis scored 10 points, as Eastern Kentucky swept the season series with Tennessee Tech.

Jud Dillard scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Golden Eagles (11-17, 4-11), while Lanerryl Johnson chipped in with 14 points.

Eastern Kentucky shot just 32 percent from the field in the first half, but took a 25-23 lead into halftime by forcing 12 turnovers that helped lead to nine more shots in the opening period. Tennessee Tech shot well from the field at 56.2 percent, but missed all five of their its from 3-point range.

After the break, the Colonels were red-hot, knocking down a scorching 70.8 percent of their field goal tries, including 4-of-8 from beyond the 3-point arc. The Golden Eagles made just 41.7 percent of their shots from the field after halftime, but did manage to hit on 4-of-11 from 3-point distance. The Colonels opened the second half on a 15-2 run and never looked back, as they cruised to victory.

Eastern Kentucky finished with a 27-7 edge in points off of turnovers. The Skyhawks did outrebound the Colonels, 34-20.
