Recap: Jacksonville St vs. Murray State

Jacksonville, AL (Sports Network) - Brian Williams scored 17 points, including the game-winning pair of free throws in the waning seconds, as the Jacksonville State Gamecocks outlasted the Murray State Racers, 65-64, in Ohio Valley Conference action at Pete Mathews Coliseum.

Ronnie Boggs and Tarvin Gaines scored 13 points apiece, while Mason Leggett had 12 points for Jacksonville State (15-5, 6-2 OVC), which has won back-to- back games.

For Murray State (15-5, 6-2), Isaiah Canaan scored 20 points, Ed Daniel tallied a double-double with 10 points and 17 rebounds, while Stacy Wilson chipped in 16 points.

Jacksonville State took a 30-21 lead at intermission after it outshot Murray State from the field in the first half, 46.2 percent to 37.5 percent.

The Racers would not go away quietly, gradually chipping away at their deficit before taking their first lead of the second half, 64-63, on a Brandon Garrett bucket with nine seconds remaining. The Gamecocks took advantage on their final possession however, as Williams drilled two clutch free throws to lift them to victory.

Jacksonville State outscored Murray State from the foul line, 20-14.
