Recap: South Dakota vs. Morehead State

Vermillion, SD (Sports Network) - Juevol Myles scored a career-high 32 points to lead the South Dakota State Coyotes to an 85-75 victory over the Morehead State Eagles, in a non-conference bout at the DakotaDome.

For the Coyotes (5-7), Karim Rowson added 17 points, Brandon Bos finished with 12 points, and Steve Tecker chipped in 11 points.

Maurice Lewis-Briggs posted a double-double for the Eagles (5-6) with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Chad Posthumus finished with 13 points, Angelo Warner netted 11 points, and Devon Atkinson dished out 11 assists.

South Dakota shot 44.4 percent from the field in the first half and held a 22-5 scoring advantage from the free-throw line, as it took a 40-31 lead into the break. Morehead State shot just 36.4 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes.

After halftime, the Coyotes made 43.5 percent of their attempts from the field and again dominated from the free-throw line, outscoring the Eagles 21-3. The Eagles hardly improved from the field, making only 39 percent of their field goal attempts, though they did manage to connect on 9-of-19 from beyond the three-point arc in the second half. Though they saw their lead shrink to just three several times early in the second half, the Coyotes were able to play from ahead for the final 20 minutes and snap a three-game losing skid.

South Dakota made a program-record 43 free-throws in the contest. The Eagles' bench outscored the Coyote reserves, 42-15.
