Morehead State erupted for its highest scoring half of the season after shooting 60.6 percent from the floor and 9-of-15 from behind the arc in the opening 20 minutes. Tennessee State kept it close by making 15-of-17 at the foul line as the Eagles held a 51-43 edge at the break.

Neither team played much defense in the second half as MSU shot 63 percent from the floor and TSU 7-of-13 from long range. A Warner triple gave the Eagles an 87-67 lead with 7:24 remaining before the Tigers went on a tear to battle back.

Trailing 101-98 with 12 seconds remaining, TSU forced Jarrett Stokes into a turnover, setting up a Miller 3-point try which was off the mark. Covington's tip-in at the buzzer would be for naught. s MSU improved to 32-26 all-time versus TSU.
