Recap: SE Missouri St vs. Murray State

Cape Girardeau, MO (Sports Network) - Isaiah Canaan scored a game-high 28 points to pace the Murray State Racers to a 74-66 victory over the SE Missouri State Redhawks in an Ohio Valley Conference showdown at the Show Me Center.

For the Racers (11-3, 2-0 OVC), Ed Daniel posted a double-double with 15 points and 17 rebounds, while Stacy Wilson chipped in with 14 points. It was a historic night for the Racers as Canaan became Murray State's all-time leader in made 3-point baskets with 254. He has also made at least one 3- pointer in a school-record 24 straight games.

A.J. Jones led the Redhawks (10-7, 2-1) with 20 points, while Tyler Stone added 16 points and Corey Wilford scored 15 points.

SE Missouri State shot 48.3 percent from the field to open the contest, connecting on 5-of-13 from beyond the 3-point arc, as it took a 34-28 lead into halftime. Murray State hit on just 37 percent of its field goal attempts and 3-of-10 from 3-point range in the first half.

After the break, the Racers improved their shooting, hitting 48.3 percent from the field and 5-of-14 from 3-point distance. The Redhawks shot 42.9 percent from the field, but were outscored 13-5 from the free-throw line in the second half. The Redhawks opened the second half on an 8-0 run, pushing their lead to 12 points early in the half. They led by 10, 49-39, with 14:10 left in regulation when the Racers went on a 19-3 run to take a 58-52 lead, which they would never relinquish. The Redhawks would get no closer than three the rest of the way, as the Racers remained perfect in league play.

The Racers owned the boards, outrebounding the Redhawks 43-29. The Redhawks did outscore the Racers 24-20 in the paint.
