Recap: Murray State vs. SIU Edwardsville

Murray, KY (Sports Network) - Isaiah Canaan scored 20 points for the Murray State Racers as they downed the SIU Edwardsville Cougars, 70-61, in an Ohio Valley Conference matchup at the CFSB Center.

Canaan dished out a game-high nine assists to go along with a game-high seven steals for the Racers (14-4, 5-1 OVC), who have won three in a row. Ed Daniel managed a double-double with 15 points and 11 assists while Stacy Wilson added 13 points and five rebounds and Brandon Garrett tallied 11 points and seven rebounds.

Mark Yelovich scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Cougars (6-10, 2-4), who saw their brief two game streak of victories end. Jerome Jones and Kris Davis added 14 points each with Davis also dishing out five assists.

SIUE led 34-23 at halftime after shooting 57.1 percent from the field in the opening stanza. The Racers made only 26.7 percent of their shots from the floor and went 0-of-5 from 3-point range in the opening 20 minutes.

Murray State heated up after the break to connect on 68 percent of its field goal attempts and added 9-of-14 at the charity stripe to overcome the first half deficit. The Cougars managed to make only 11 of their 30 attempts from the floor in the second half.

The Racers scored 26 points of 22 turnovers committed by the Cougars to overcome SIUE's 38-30 edge in the rebounding battle.
