Recap: San Francisco vs. BYU

San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - Matt Carlino and Tyler Haws scored 22 points each to help the BYU Cougars come back from a second half deficit to defeat the San Francisco Dons, 80-76, in a West Coast Conference battle at Memorial Gymnasium.

Brock Zylstra chipped in 16 points for BYU (12-4, 2-0 WCC) as it reeled off its fourth consecutive victory. Josh Sharp pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.

Cole Dickerson and Cody Doolin also finished with 22 points apiece to lead San Francisco (8-7, 0-2), which dropped its second straight decision. Doolin recorded a double-double by dishing out 10 assists and Dickerson was just a rebound shy of a double-double himself.

The Dons came out firing and knocked down 9-of-13 attempts from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes to build a 46-37 halftime lead. BYU stayed within striking distance by hitting 43.8 percent of its field goal attempts in the first half.

San Francisco was unable to keep up its deadly accuracy from 3-point range after the break, as it went just 2-of-11 from distance and also only 4-of-8 at the charity stripe in the second stanza. BYU converted 54.8 percent of its shots from the floor and used a 7-0 run to go up by six points with just under two minutes left before the final buzzer.

The Cougars outscored San Francisco, 12-3, in the second chance points to survive their trip to Memorial Gymnasium.
