Recap: San Francisco vs. Portland

San Francisco, ST (Sports Network) - Kevin Bailey scored 18 points on 6-of-13 field goal shooting as the Portland Pilots hung on for a 78-76 win over the San Francisco Dons in West Coast Conference action at Memorial Gym.

Ryan Nicholas tallied 15 points and seven rebounds, while Thomas Van Der Mars had 14 points and nine boards for Portland (10-17, 3-9 WCC), which has won two of three. Tanner Riley added 11 points off the bench for the visitors, while Derrick Rodgers handed out eight assists.

For San Francisco (11-14, 4-8), Cole Dickerson and Chris Adams netted 17 points apiece. De'End Parker (14 points) and Avry Holmes (12 points) were both strong in reserve roles, and Cody Doolin recorded 11 points and six assists for the Dons, who had won their previous two games.

Portland outshot San Francisco from the field in the first half, 51.5 percent to 36.7 percent, to take a 40-33 halftime lead. The Dons kept the game within striking distance by draining five 3-pointers in the opening 20 minutes.

The Dons came back to take a 47-45 lead with 14:51 to play on a Dickerson bucket, but the Pilots answered with seven straight points to regain the advantage. San Francisco wouldn't go away quietly, as it tied the game on a Parker layup with just over two minutes left, but Van Der Mars responded with a 2-of-2 trip to the foul line to give Portland the lead for good.

Portland finished the game shooting 50 percent from the field, but it was just 4-of-14 from 3-point range.
