Recap: Western Ky vs. Western Carolina

Bowling Green, KY (Sports Network) - Jamal Crook and T.J. Price each scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers to a 92-81 win over the Western Carolina Catamounts as part of regional action of the Cancun Challenge at E.A. Diddle Arena.

Price also finished with a game-high nine rebounds for Western Kentucky (2-1). George Fant put up 12 points and Teeng Akol chipped in 10 as well for the Hilltoppers.

Trey Sumler paced Western Carolina (1-3) with 25 points. Preston Ross added 19 and Tawaski King finished with 15.

Western Kentucky led 40-30 at halftime after shooting at a 48.3 percent clip in the first 20 minutes. Western Carolina was successful on 42.3 percent of its first half shots.

Both teams heated up in the second half but Western Kentucky was the superior team knocking down 53.8 percent of its shots from the floor in the final frame.

The Hilltoppers outscored the Catamounts 19-8 on points off turnovers and also had a 38-31 edge on the boards.
