Recap: IUPU-Ft Wayne vs. Nebraska Omaha

Fort Wayne, IN (Sports Network) - Frank Gaines and Michael Kibiloski shared game-high scoring honors with 26 points apiece, as the IUPU-Fort Wayne Mastodons cruised to a 96-78 win over the Nebraska Omaha Mavericks in Summit League play at War Memorial Coliseum.

Kibiloski also pulled down 10 rebounds while shooting 8-of-11 from the floor. Luis Jacobo added 16 points, and Mario Hines posted 12 points and 12 boards to help the Mastodons (8-9, 1-2 Summit) improve to 6-0 at home.

Justin Simmons had 24 points and Marcus Tyus scored 20 off the bench for the Mavericks (4-14, 1-5), who lost on the road for the 11th time in as many tries this season. C.J. Carter rounded out the double-figure scorers with 12 points in a losing effort.

The Mastodons were on fire in the first half, as they buried 9-of-13 3- pointers (.692) to claim a 47-36 lead at the break. IPFW used a 14-4 run in the middle of the opening frame to go up by as many as 21 with five minutes to play until halftime.

The Mastodons marched to the foul line in the second half, as they went 22- of-26 (.846) at the charity stripe to maintain a double-digit lead over the final 20 minutes.

IPFW dominated nearly every facet of the game, holding a 43-25 rebounding advantage while outscoring the Mavericks 26-12 at the free-throw line and 42-12 from beyond the arc.
