Recap: IUPU-Ft Wayne vs. Western Ill

Fort Wayne, IN (Sports Network) - Ceola Clark scored 11 points to lead the Western Illinois Leathernecks to a 43-40 win over the IUPU-Fort Wayne Mastodons in a Summit League clash at Gates Sports Center.

Remy Roberts-Burnett added 10 points as Western Illinois (16-4, 8-1 Summit) won for the 13th time in its last 14 contests. Adam Link added a team-high seven rebounds.

Mario Hines finished with 13 points on 6-of-7 field goal shooting for IPFW (9-13, 2-6).

WIU jumped out to a 15-4 lead to open the game but let up as the first half went on. The Leathernecks led just 24-20 at halftime despite holding IPFW to 27.3 percent shooting.

The WIU advantage grew to 43-31 with 8:35 remaining but it went cold from that point on, failing to score another point the rest of the way. IPFW finished the game on a 9-0 run but could not get over the hump as a 3-point try by Luis Jacobo was off the mark with five seconds remaining.

Despite the loss, IPFW leads the all-time series, 10-6.
