Cullowhee, NC (Sports Network) - Tim Tankelewicz scored 19 points, leading four starters in double figures, as the Western Carolina Catamounts delivered a 70-64 win over the Appalachian State Mountaineers in Southern Conference action at the Ramsey Center.

Tawaski King contributed 14 points and eight rebounds for the Catamounts (4-6, 2-0 SoCon), followed by Trey Sumler and James Sinclair with 13 and 12 points, respectively, as the team snapped a two-game slide.

The Mountaineers (1-7, 0-1) were paced by Jay Canty who tallied a game-high 22 points and also cleared eight boards for the visitors as they suffered a seventh straight setback after opening the campaign with an 86-54 win over Montreat. Nathan Healy dropped in 15 points and cleared a game-high nine boards, followed by Tab Hamilton with 10 points.

WCU shot only 39.3 percent from the floor in the first half, including 2-of-8 behind the three-point line, which is why the hosts trailed by 10 points at the break, 36-26.
