Recap: IUPUI vs. South Dakota St

Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - All five starters scored in double figures for South Dakota State, as the Jackrabbits defeated the IUPUI Jaguars, 80-65, in Summit League action from The Jungle.

Brayden Carlson led the way with 18 points and seven rebounds for the Jackrabbits (15-6, 6-2 Summit), winners of four straight. Nate Wolters shot just 2-of-8 from the floor but finished with 12 points, seven assists, six rebounds and a pair of steals.

The Jaguars (6-16, 1-7) suffered their sixth consecutive loss, despite 17 points from Greg Rice and double-doubles from Mitchell Patton (17 points, 11 rebounds) and Donovan Gibbs (14 points, 10 rebounds).

Carlson scored 11 of his 18 points in the game's first 10 minutes, as part of a huge 17-3 Jackrabbits run that turned a 10-8 lead into a 27-11 cushion midway through the first half. SDSU went on to shoot 58.6 percent from the floor and 6-of-12 from 3-point range in the opening frame to take a commanding 52-28 lead into the break.

SDSU led by as many as 29 with just under five minutes to play before IUPUI put together a late spurt to trim the final margin nearly in half.

The Jackrabbits out-scored IUPUI at the charity stripe, 23-6, and they also got more contribution from the reserves as they held a key 19-3 edge in bench points for the game.
