Recap: Western Carolina vs. Chattanooga

Cullowhee, NC (Sports Network) - Z. Mason scored 25 points to go along with a career-high 14 rebounds to lead the Chattanooga Mocs to an 81-72 win over the Western Carolina Catamounts in a Southern Conference tilt at the Ramsey Center.

Ronrico White netted 19 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor for Chattanooga (13-17, 8-9 SoCon) which has won consecutive games after dropping its previous two. Gee McGhee added 12 points.

Brandon Boggs paced Western Carolina (12-18, 8-9) with 21 points off the bench. Tawaski King registered a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards and Trey Sumler had 10 points.

Chattanooga jumped out to a 12-0 lead and ended up with a 43-29 advantage at the break. The Mocs shot 53.8 percent from the field in the first half while Western Carolina managed just 37 percent and 3-of-10 from behind the arc.

The Catamounts slowly cut into the deficit in the second half and with 5:27 remaining in the game they had battled back to within two points at 64-62. Chattanooga responded with an 8-2 run, including six key points from McGhee to seal the victory.

WCU lost despite its bench outscoring the Chattanooga reserves, 35-13.
