Recap: Louisiana vs. Arkansas State

Lafayette, LA (Sports Network) - Shawn Long posted a double-double with 17 points and 16 rebounds as the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns took down the Arkansas State Red Wolves, 51-56, in a Sun Belt Conference showdown at the Cajundome.

Kasey Shepherd and Elfrid Payton each had 13 points for Louisiana (7-12, 3-5 Sun Belt) although Payton had eight turnovers as well. The Ragin' Cajuns snapped a three-game losing streak with the win.

Trey Finn scored 15 points, Cameron Golden contributed 13 and Raeford Worsham tacked on 12 for Arkansas State (10-7, 4-4) which had won back-to-back games entering play.

Both teams struggled from the field in the first half. Louisiana shot just 35.7 percent while Arkansas State clocked in at 37.5 percent. The Ragin' Cajuns were still able to take a 33-24 lead at the half by outscoring the Red Wolves from the 3-point arc (12-6) and the free-throw line (9-4).

In the second half Louisiana improved to 41.7 percent shooting, while Arkansas State dipped to 32.1 percent.

Louisiana outscored Arkansas State 26-22 in the paint. The Red Wolves' bench outscored the Ragin' Cajuns' reserves 27-8.
