Recap: Arkansas State vs. South Alabama

Jonesboro, AR (Sports Network) - Trey Finn recorded 18 points as the Arkansas State Red Wolves defeated the South Alabama Jaguars, 74-62, in Sun Belt Conference play at the Convocation Center.

Finn was two rebounds shy of a double-double in the Red Wolves' (13-8, 7-5 SBC) victory. Rakeem Dickerson also chipped in 18 points off the bench. Ed Townsel scored 11 points and Marcus Hooten added 10 points as Arkansas State won a second consecutive game.

For the Jaguars (11-9, 8-4), Augustine Rubit was one board shy of a double- double with 18 points. Javier Carter added 11 points and five boards but was the only other player in double figures as South Alabama had a three-game winning streak snapped.

At the break Arkansas State led 35-29 by shooting 43-.3 percent from the field while hitting 8-of-15 shots from the free-throw line. South

In the second half the Red Wolves cooled to 28 percent shooting but managed to hold off the Jaguars by outscoring them 22-16 from the free-throw line and 9-3 from beyond the arc.

Arkansas State was 30-of-43 from the free-throw line, while holding South Alabama to 38 percent from the floor including 2-of-10 from long range on the night.
