Recap: North Texas vs. Arkansas State

Denton, TX (Sports Network) - Alzee Williams scored 19 points to lead the North Texas Mean Green to a 74-50 rout of the Arkansas State Red Wolves in a Sun Belt Conference tilt at The Super Pit.

Tony Mitchell had a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds for North Texas (12-19, 7-13 Sun Belt) while Jordan Williams and Roger Franklin added 16 and 12 points, respectively.

Marcus Hooten paced Arkansas State (18-10, 12-7) with 18 points. Ed Townsel chipped in 14 points off the bench as the Red Wolves' four-game winning streak came to an end.

All five North Texas starters scored at least four points in a balanced first half in which the Mean Green shot 42.9 percent from the floor, while holding Arkansas State to 0-of-11 from long range. North Texas led 34-24 at the break.

North Texas never let up as it shot 54.2 percent in the second half, while also connecting on 13-of-17 at the free-throw line.

Despite allowing 18 offensive rebounds, North Texas outrebounded ASU, 45-38.
