Recap: South Dakota St vs. IUPU-Ft Wayne

Brookings, SD (Sports Network) - Nate Wolters erupted for a game-high 29 points as he led the South Dakota State Jackrabbits to an 83-57 win over the IUPU-Fort Wayne Mastodons in a Summit League showdown at Frost Arena.

Also scoring in double figures for the Jackrabbits (13-6, 4-2 Summit) were Chad White and Marcus Heemstra with 12 points apiece as the team won for the third time in four tries.

The Mastodons (8-11, 1-4) were paced by Frank Gaines with 18 points and Joe Reed 15 off the bench as the team suffered a second consecutive setback.

South Dakota State shot a mere 1-of-5 behind the 3-point line and 5-of-10 at the charity stripe in the first half, yet the team was able to record a 34-31 lead at the break.

In the second half the Jackrabbits opened up the offense with a staggering 72.7 percent shooting from the field, including 6-of-8 on the perimeter, en route to the 26-point victory.

SDSU, which forced 18 turnovers, knocked down an impressive 55.6 percent from the floor for the entire game.
