Recap: Elon vs. UNC Greensboro

Elon, NC (Sports Network) - Lucas Troutman tallied 25 points for Elon as the Phoenix closed out regular season play with an 80-66 win over the UNC Greensboro Spartans in Southern Conference action at Alumni Gym.

Troutman shot 9-of-13 from the floor for the Phoenix (20-9, 13-5 SoCon) as they snapped a two-game slide. Ryley Beaumont added 14 points and nine rebounds, while Sebastian Koch had 12 points and five assists, followed by Tanner Samson tallied 10 points.

The Spartans (8-21, 6-12), who lost their third straight and sixth in the last seven games, were led by a double-double performance from Kelvin McNeil who pulled down 12 rebounds to go with 11 points. Kayel Locke led the team in scoring with 13 points, while Trevis Simpson had 11 and Drew Parker added 10 points.

Elon led 29-28 at halftime after shooting 45.0 percent from the field and earning 11 points at the free-throw line.

The Phoenix turned it around in the second half, shooting 65.4 percent from the floor and outscoring the Spartans 51-38.

While Elon shot 56.5 percent from the field and made good on 23-of-28 attempts at the charity stripe, the Phoenix also held UNCG to just 39.7 percent from the floor and 5-of-19 shooting from beyond the arc.
