Recap: Western Ky vs. Louisiana

Bowling Green, KY (Sports Network) - Brandon Harris recorded 16 points, nine rebounds, and five assists as the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers made easy work of the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, 72-49, in a Sun Belt Conference tilt at E.A. Diddle Arena.

Teeng Akol tallied 13 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocks off the bench for WKU (11-8, 5-3 Sun Belt), which snapped a three-game losing streak. T.J. Price scored 13 points, George Fant added 10 points, and Percy Blade grabbed 10 boards in the Hilltoppers' victory.

For Louisiana (7-13, 3-6), Elfrid Payton led the way with 14 points. Shawn Long notched his 11th double-double of the year with 11 points and 14 rebounds for the Cajuns, who have dropped four of five.

WKU shot just 36.4 percent from the field in the first half, but Louisiana was even worse at 30 percent, as the Hilltoppers took a 32-21 lead into intermission.

The Hilltoppers' field goal efficiency improved to 50 percent after the break as they led by as many 25 in the second half.

WKU held a commanding rebounding advantage, 49-31. It also had a stellar showing from the free-throw line (20-of-26), while Louisiana was just 9-of-16 from the stripe.
