UNC Greensboro (6-15) at Furman (6-14) (ET)

GAME NOTES: The UNC Greensboro Spartans hope to snap their two-game losing streak at Timmons Arena on Thursday when they square off with the Furman Paladins.

This marks the 23rd meeting between the Paladins and Spartans with Furman holding a 12-10 series advantage. The Paladins claimed their third straight series victory and second consecutive triumph in Greensboro, with a 69-61 win on Jan. 20. Furman holds a 9-1 series edge versus UNCG in Greenville.

The Spartans were dealt an 81-59 loss by the College of Charleston on Saturday in the first leg of their three-game road swing. The setback dropped UNCG to a 6-15 overall record including its 4-6 mark in SoCon play. Junior swingman Trevis Simpson has been a bright spot as he is 15th in the nation in scoring at 19.7 points per game after reaching double figures 17 times and the 20- point mark eight times. UNCG is scoring 71.9 ppg, but it is giving up a league-high 75.1 ppg.

In their loss to Charleston, the Spartans went 18-of-55 (32.7 percent) from the field and 2-of-14 (14.3 percent) from 3-point range, while allowing the Cougars to shoot 42.1 percent from the floor and knock down 10-of-21 from distance. Kayel Locke scored 21 points before fouling out for UNCG, while Simpson scored 15 points. Locke is the third-leading scorer for the Spartans at 10.7 ppg, but he is struggling from the perimeter with a mere 18.8 percent conversion rate on his 3-point shot attempts. Derrell Armstrong is a solid contributor for the Spartans with 15.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per tilt. Kelvin McNeil is pacing the team on the glass with 6.8 rebounds a game.

Furman enters with a 6-14 record and a 3-6 standing in SoCon action after dropping an 94-79 decision to the Citadel on Saturday. The Paladins' resume took a big hit when it suffered nine losses in 10 games before finally putting a stop to the bleeding with a 69-65 win over Wofford. They have since alternated wins with losses to go 3-3 over their last six appearances. Furman is netting 62.8 ppg, but it is allowing a much higher rate of 69.6 ppg to its opposition. Colin Reddick scored 21 points in the loss to the Citadel to raise his team-leading averages to 12.5 points and 6.1 rebounds. Charlie Reddick is second in scoring with just under 10 points per game and is tied for the team- lead with 28 makes from beyond the arc.

The Paladins were led by Charlie Reddick, who had a season-high 26 points after going 10-of-16 from the field, in their loss to The Citadel. Colin Reddick tallied 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Stephen Croone added a double-double of 12 points and 12 assists. Furman took a sizeable, 40-24 lead into the intermission before the Bulldogs came alive after the break. The Bulldogs' P.J. Horgan scored 17 of his 23 points in the second half as the Citadel shot a red-hot 74.1 percent from the floor, assisting 14 of its 20 makes. Furman watched its lead evaporate as it committed 16 fouls and 10 turnovers in the second stanza.

Furman's loss to the Citadel does not inspire too much confidence as it welcomes in UNCG. The Spartans have a few scorers that can get hot in an instant in Simpson and Armstrong, which will put pressure on the Reddick brothers to continue their high-level of production.

GAME NOTES: The UNC Greensboro Spartans hope to snap their two-game losing streak at Timmons Arena on Thursday when they square off with the Furman Paladins.
