Recap: Evansville vs. Western Ill

Evansville, IN (Sports Network) - Jordan Jahr scored 13 points and brought down eight rebounds as the Evansville Purple Aces earned a hard fought win over Western Illinois, 49-44, at the Ford Center in regional action of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.

Ned Cox also added 11 points for Evansville (2-2).

Western Illinois 2-2) wasted a 21-point, 11-rebound double-double from Terell Parks in the loss. Don Mcavoy also added 10 points.

It was Western Illinois that led at the break 26-24 after shooting at a 44.8 percent pace in the first half. Evansville connected only 41.7 percent of its shots in the first half.

Both teams combined for 14 total field goals over the last 20 minutes but Evansville outscored the Leathernecks from 3-point range (9-0) and the free throw line (8-4) to earn the win.

Western Illinois lost despite holding a 37-29 edge in rebounds.
