Recap: South Alabama vs. ULM

Mobile, AL (Sports Network) - Augustine Rubit tallied 23 points and nine rebounds as the South Alabama Jaguars dismissed the ULM Warhawks, 71-56, in a Sun Belt Conference showdown at the Mitchell Center.

Freddie Goldstein shot 5-of-10 from 3-point range on his way to 16 points for South Alabama (9-8, 6-3 Sun Belt), which has won two of three. Mychal Ammons and Antoine Allen netted 10 points apiece, and Javier Carter grabbed 10 rebounds in the triumph.

Marcelis Hansberry scored 16 points on 7-of-9 from the field for ULM (3-11, 2-6), which dropped its third straight.

South Alabama led by as many as 11 in the first half, but ULM battled back to tie the score, 27-27, heading into intermission. The Warhawks outshot the Jaguars in the frame, 42.3 percent to 37 percent.

The Jaguars opened the second half on a 13-2 run and they never looked back from there. Their field goal efficiency improved to a red-hot 62.5 percent after the break.

South Alabama committed 19 turnovers, but ULM only converted them into 14 points. Meanwhile, the Jaguars scored 24 points off of 21 Warhawks' miscues.
