Recap: ULM vs. Troy

Monroe, LA (Sports Network) - Emil Jones scored eight of his 13 points in the extra session as the Troy Trojans defeated the ULM Warhawks, 71-64 in overtime, in Sun Belt Conference action at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

Hunter Williams had 15 points for Troy (9-12, 4-6 Sun Belt), which has won back-to-back games. Jeff Mullahey (10 points) and Ray Chambers (10 rebounds) were both effective from off the bench for the visitors.

For ULM (3-13, 2-8), Amos Olatayo scored 21 points, Jayon James tallied 14 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, and Trent Mackey netted 12 points. The Warhawks' losing streak now sits at a season-high five games.

Troy shot 41.7 percent from the field in the first half, including 6-of-14 from 3-point range, as it took a 33-27 advantage into intermission.

The Trojans extended their lead to as many as 10 in the second half before ULM ripped off a 13-1 run to take a 52-50 lead with 2:44 remaining. Troy managed to retake the lead, 57-54, with just 11 seconds left, but Trent Mackey drilled the game-tying 3-pointer for ULM with two seconds left to force overtime.

After shooting just 1-of-7 in regulation, Jones shot 3-of-4 in the extra session and drained a pair of free throws to lift Troy to the win.

Troy shot 18-of-26 from the free-throw line, while ULM was a woeful 10-of-26 from the stripe.
