Birmingham, AL (Sports Network) - Tim Williams posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Samford Bulldogs to a 64-60 victory over the Western Carolina Catamounts in a Southern Conference battle at the Hanna Center.

Raijon Kelly added 10 points for the Bulldogs (6-12, 4-1 SoCon) as they collected their third straight win.

Tawaski King led the Catamounts (7-11, 4-2) with 14 points, while Trey Sumler and Brandon Boggs each finished with 13 points.

WCU was hot from the field to start the game, connecting on 61.5 percent of its field goal attempts in the first half. Samford shot 45.5 percent from the field, including 5-of-10 from 3-point range to keep pace with the Catamounts, as the teams went into halftime tied at 37-37.

In the second half, the teams shot an identical 40.7 percent from the field. The Bulldogs had the advantage from long range, hitting 2-of-7 from beyond the arc, while the Catamounts missed all six of their 3-point tries after halftime. WCU jumped out to the early second half lead, going up by as many as seven, but Samford responded and went ahead for good with under 12 minutes to play. The Catamounts would cut their deficit to just one on several occasions but the Bulldogs held on for the victory.

Samford outscored WCU in the paint, 36-28, and it won the rebounding battle, 37-28.
