Recap: Fordham vs. Robert Morris

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Velton Jones scored 18 points and dished out five assists as the Robert Morris Colonials defeated the Fordham Rams, 74-58, in a consolation game of the NIT Season Tip-Off at Petersen Events Center.

Karvel Anderson came off the bench to score 16 points for the Colonials (1-2), and Lucky Jones narrowly missed a double-double with 15 points and nine boards. Coron Williams scored 13 points on 4-of-7 three-point shooting.

For Fordham (0-3), Branden Frazier scored a game-high 21 points and added seven assists and four rebounds. Bryan Smith netted 12 points and Chris Gaston chipped in with 11 points.

Robert Morris got out to a 37-29 halftime lead behind 44.4 percent field goal shooting in the opening frame.

The Rams tied the game at 39-39 early in the second half on a Smith three- pointer, but the Colonials answered by going on a 20-5 run over the next 10 minutes to pull away.

Robert Morris made the most of Fordham's mistakes by turning 12 turnovers in 22 points.
