Recap: Massachusetts vs. Tennessee

Bayamon, PR (Sports Network) - Jarnell Stokes registered a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds as he led the Tennessee Volunteers to an 83-69 win over the Massachusetts Minutemen in the third-place game of the 2012 Puerto Rico Tip-Off at Coliseo Ruben Rodriquez.

Off the bench Jordan McRae provided 12 points for the Volunteers (3-1), followed by the trio of Skylar McBee, Trae Golden and Josh Richardson who all tallied 11 points, the latter also clearing nine rebounds.

The Minutemen (2-2) were paced by Jess Morgan with his 18 points, followed by Chaz Williams who filled out his stat line with 16 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and three steals. Terrell Vinson added 10 points in the losing effort.

UMass opened up quickly with a four-point advantage just moments into the first half, but the team ended up shooting only 4-of-13 behind the three-point line in the period, resulting in a 38-34 deficit at the break.

In the second half the Minutemen shot an awful 27.0 percent from the floor, as the Vols ran away with the double-digit victory.

Tennessee ended up shooting just 20-of-33 at the free-throw line on the day, but made up for it by holding a 51-37 advantage on the glass.
