Recap: Virginia vs. Lamar

Charlottesville, VA (Sports Network) - Joe Harris scored 17 points to lead the Virginia Cavaliers to a 63-44 triumph over the Lamar Cardinals in the NIT Season Tip-Off consolation round at John Paul Jones Arena.

Akil Mitchell added 10 points and eight rebounds for Virginia (3-2).

Stan Brown put in 11 points and Nikko Acosta added 10 off the bench for Lamar (0-4).

Virginia had almost twice as many field goals as Lamar in the first half as the Hokies knocked down 13-of-31 shots with the Cardinals successful on just 7-of-23. The Cavaliers led 32-18 at the break.

The second half was more of the same with Virginia shooting at a 45.5 percent clip while Lamar lagged behind at 34.8 percent shooting.

The Cavaliers blocked eight shots and forced 14 turnovers while committing only nine themselves.
