Charlottesville, VA (Sports Network) - Tony Mitchell scored a game-high 21 points and the North Texas Mean Green defeated the IUPUI Jaguars, 80-66, in NIT Season Tip-Off play on Monday.

Mitchell also hauled in nine rebounds, blocked four shots and came away with three steals, while Roger Franklin posted a double-double of 13 points and 10 boards for North Texas, who will play the Virginia Cavaliers on Tuesday to conclude its play in the NIT tournament.

Jordan Williams and Jacob Holmen chipped in with 13 and 12 points, respectively, in the victory.

Lyonell Gaines turned in a double-double off the bench for Jaguars, scoring 17 points and pulling down 12 boards, while John Hart, Mitchell Patton and P.J. Hubert added 12 points apiece in defeat for IUPUI, which will finish NIT tournament action against Lamar on Tuesday.

Patton scored on a layup to bring the Jaguars within single-digits early in the second half, but from there, the Mean Green went on a 14-2 run to pull away and IUPUI never recovered.
