Recap: Virginia vs. North Texas

Charlottesville, VA (Sports Network) - Justin Anderson paced five Cavaliers in double figures with 14 points as Virginia knocked off the North Texas Mean Green, 80-64, as part of the NIT Season Tip-Off at John Paul Jones Arena.

Evan Nolte and Teven Jones scored 13 points apiece for Virginia (4-2), while Joe Harris went 3-of-4 from three-point range en route to 12 points. Darion Atkins tallied 10 points and nine rebounds.

For North Texas (3-3), Tony Mitchell led all scorers with 16 points and he also added nine boards and three blocks. Jordan Williams put up 12 points and Alzee Williams netted 11.

Behind 59.3 percent field goal shooting in the opening half, the Cavaliers took a comfortable 42-22 led into intermission. North Texas made only 7-of-28 field goal attempts in the frame (.280).

Virginia continued its hot shooting after the break, connecting on 11-of-19 from the floor. The Mean Green managed to get their deficit to nine at one point, but the Cavaliers answered with a 10-2 run as they ran away with an easy win.

Virginia made good on 8-of-11 attempts from beyond the arc, while North Texas shot just 3-of-19 from long range.
