Recap: DePaul vs. Western Ky

Cancun, Mexico (Sports Network) - Jamal Crook scored 16 points off the bench to lead the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers to a 70-61 win over the DePaul Blue Demons for third place in the Riviera Division of the Cancun Challenge at the Moon Palace Resort.

Crook shot 8-of-13 from the floor to lead the Hilltoppers (3-2). T.J. Price was second in scoring with 13 points and five assists. Brandon Harris recorded just six points but pulled down 10 rebounds, also coming off the bench.

Cleveland Melvin's 22-point, 13-rebound double-double was spoiled by DePaul's (2-3) loss. Brandon Young shot just 3-of-10 from the field but was 6-of-6 from the free-throw line as he added 12 points for the Blue Demons.

DePaul shot 1-of-8 from three-point range in the first half and 32.4 percent from the field as the Blue Demons trailed 41-27 at halftime.

In the second half of play, the Demons shot 43.8 percent from the field and outscored WKU 34-29 but could not overcome the first half deficit. Both teams were 0-of-6 from beyond the arc in the half.

Western Kentucky shot 41.8 percent from the floor in the contest The Hilltoppers' bench combined for 30 points while the Demon's bench contributed just six.
