Recap: Charlotte vs. Oral Roberts

Anchorage, AK (Sports Network) - DeMario Mayfield scored 17 points off the bench to lead the Charlotte 49ers to a 72-58 victory over the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles in the semifinal round of the Great Alaska Shootout at Sullivan Arena.

Chris Braswell contributed 11 points and six assists for Charlotte (5-0), which will face Northeastern in the championship game. Pierria Henry contributed seven assists and five steals to help keep the 49ers' perfect record intact.

Shawn Glover paced Oral Roberts (3-2) with 18 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the floor. Warren Niles added 15 points, Steven Roundtree scored 12, and Damen Bell-Holter pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds. The Golden Eagles will next play Belmont in the third place game.

Oral Roberts could not get into a rhythm out of the gate and shot just 25.8 percent from the floor in the opening half. The 49ers took a 32-23 lead into the intermission despite converting only 10-of-27 from the field before the break.

Charlotte heated up to knocked down 46.4 percent of its field goal attempts and 10-of-12 at the free throw line in the second half. The Golden Eagles improved to make 13-of-31 attempts from the floor over the final 20 minutes, but it was not enough to close the gap and they suffered the double-digit setback.

Despite the loss, Oral Roberts held a narrow 40-38 edge in the rebounding battle.
