Recap: Miami-Florida vs. Indiana State

Honolulu, HI (Sports Network) - Jake Odum knocked down the go-ahead bucket with less than a second remaining in overtime, as Indiana State outlasted Miami-Florida, 57-55, on Tuesday in the third place game of the Diamond Head Classic at Stan Sheriff Center.

With the game locked at 55-55 late in the extra session, Odum calmly let the clock run down before making his move toward the basket.

Odum stopped at the elbow and got his defender in the air before stepping into the lane and banking a leaner off the glass and in to give the Sycamores a decisive two-point advantage.

Manny Arop and R.J. Mahurin netted 13 points apiece for Indiana State (7-4), which has won three of its last four.

Kenny Kadji led the Hurricanes (8-3) with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Julian Gamble donated 11 points, nine boards and four blocks in the setback, Miami-Florida's second in a row.

The Hurricanes led by two at halftime before opening the second half on an 8-2 surge to build a 31-23 advantage.

Indiana State got as close as three after an Arop layup, but the Hurricanes quickly distanced themselves with a 6-0 spurt to push the lead back to nine.

The difference was seven, 47-40, after a Larkin layup before a quick 7-2 swing capped by a pair of Odum free throws cut the deficit to two with 1:02 remaining in regulation.

After Rion Brown missed two from the line at the other end, Mahurin was fouled following an offensive rebound. Mahurin then knocked down both free throws to knot the game with 17 seconds left in the fourth.

Larkin had a chance to end the game in regulation, but his short jumper was blocked by Odum to send the game to overtime.

With the game knotted at 55-55 late in the extra session, Kadji missed a short jumper inside with 36 seconds remaining to set up the final possession.

The Hurricanes led by as many as eight in the first half before carrying a slim 23-21 edge into the locker room.
