El Paso, TX (Sports Network) - Kyle Randall and Blake Hibbitts scored 12 points each as the Central Michigan Chippewas defeated the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions in the consolation game of the Sun Bowl Invitational at the Don Haskins Center.

Olivier Mbaigoto and Spencer Krannitz chipped in nine points each for Central Michigan (7-5). Mbaigoto also grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds while John Simons pulled down 10 boards.

Marcel Mosley paced UAPB (1-11) with 12 points on 4-of-11 shooting from the field. The loss was the ninth in a row for the Golden Lions.

The Chippewas built a double-digit lead less than seven minutes after tip-off and kept the pressure on to take a 34-18 advantage into the intermission. CMU shot 40.7 percent from the field including an 8-of-17 mark from three-point range before the break while the Golden Lions managed to make just 25 percent of their field goal tries in the opening 20 minutes.

CMU cooled off to hit just 26.5 percent of its shots from the floor in the second half, but UAPB was unable to overcome the huge halftime deficit.

The Chippewas held a dominant 50-34 edge in the rebounding battle and outscored the Golden Lions 12-5 at the free throw line.
