Recap: Texas A&M vs. Auburn

Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Elston Turner scored 22 points as the 11th- seeded Texas A&M Aggies won their debut game in the Big 12 Tournament by defeating the 14th-seeded Auburn Tigers, 71-62, in the first round at Bridgestone Arena.

Alex Caruso added 14 points and six assists for Texas A&M (18-14), which advances to play Missouri on Thursday. Fabyon Harris and Kourtney Roberson tallied 11 points each in the win.

Frankie Sullivan pumped in 19 points for Auburn (9-23) as it suffered its 10th loss in a row. Chris Denson provided a spark off the bench with 15 points in the Aggies' season-ending setback.

Texas A&M went 4-of-9 from beyond the arc in the first half en route to a 34-27 halftime lead. The Tigers hit on 45.5 percent of their field goal tries in the opening 20 minutes.

Auburn cooled off to shoot just 35.7 percent from the floor in the second stanza. The Aggies converted 15-of-18 at the free-throw line after the break to extend their lead and punch their ticket to the second round.

Texas A&M enjoyed a 36-24 edge in the rebounding battle.
