Recap: Butler vs. Dayton

Brooklyn, NY (Sports Network) - Rotnei Clarke had 21 points and five assists in Butler's 73-67 win over Dayton in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament.

Andrew Smith added 18 points and six rebounds for the Bulldogs (25-7), who have won three straight games and will play La Salle in Friday's quarterfinal.

Josh Benson led the Flyers (17-14) with 18 points and five boards.

Butler took a 33-30 edge into the break, but pulled away in the second half.

Dyshawn Pierre's layup got the Flyers within 53-50 with 9:17 to play, but the Bulldogs countered with a 14-6 burst. Erik Fromm had nine points during the surge, which was capped on a Clarke 3-pointer for a 67-56 lead with 3:43 left.
