Recap: Detroit vs. Wright State

Valparaiso, IN (Sports Network) - Miles Dixon netted 14 points, including the game-winning jumper in the waning seconds, as the third-seeded Wright State Raiders upset the second-seeded Detroit Titans, 56-54, in the semifinal round of the Horizon League Tournament at the Athletics-Recreation Center.

Dixon shot 6-of-8 from the field off the bench and added three steals for Wright State (21-11), which will play in Tuesday's championship game against Valparaiso. Jerran Young added 12 points and six rebounds for the Raiders.

Jason Calliste led Detroit (20-12) with 17 points and five assists, while Evan Bruinsma put up 15 points. Ray McCallum, the Horizon League Player of the Year, had just five points on 1-of-7 from the field.

Although Wright State outshot Detroit from the field in the first half, 57.9 percent to 41.7 percent, the Titans attempted five more field goals than the Raiders and shot 7-of-8 from the foul line, as the teams went into intermission tied at 29-29.

The game remained tight down the stretch, with a total of 14 ties and nine lead changes on the day. With Detroit down three with just over a minute remaining, Calliste drained a 3-pointer to tie the contest. After empty possessions by both sides, Wright State had possession with time winding down, which ultimately led to Dixon's last-second bucket.

Wright State overcame a game-high 17 turnovers by winning the rebounding battle, 29-21.
